A group of walkers, dressed in Bills gear and carrying signs and purple pompoms, took the first lap for Relay For Life at Veterans Park on the morning of Jan. 10. The weather was mild, and there was no snow on the ground.

Relay For Life will be held June 6 in the Town Commons.

Lynn Dingey, one of the co-chairs for Relay For Life, said, “We’re going to unite with some superhero friends to finish the fight.

“Relay For Life of Grand Island is celebrating 25 years this year, thanks to our amazing community and its continued support of Relay. I'm hoping we see old friends and make some new friends at this year's event, as we celebrate our survivors, remember those we've lost, and continue to fight back against a disease that has taken so much from so many.”

Upcoming events will include a “Bowling and Baskets” event in March and a Krispy Kreme presale toward the end of April. In addition, the Father’s Day lawnmower race is scheduled for June 14. The Niagara Falls Air Show is scheduled for the Father’s Day weekend, June 20-21.

“New in the works this year is a ‘Derby Day’ Niagara Wine tour (May 2),” Dingey said. “We'll have more information available soon. Keep an eye on Facebook for fundraisers and event information.”
