“Friday Spotlight Series” runs 6-8 p.m. from June 12 to Aug. 28 on the City of Tonawanda side of Gateway Harbor in the pavilion on the canal. The lineup features:
•June 12, Friends of Harmony: The finest a-cappella music, this group of 20 performers takes the stage and turns back the clock for some old-time favorites. Music covers a broad spectrum of genres in a four-part barbershop-style harmony including show tunes, love ballads, up-tunes, and doo-wop from the ’50s and ’60s.
•June 26, Buffalo Improv House: “Whose Line Is it Anyway”-style improve featuring interactive components to engage the crowd, followed by an improv Broadway musical comedy show that features a fully improvised musical comedy where everything is made up on the spot – the characters, dialogue, songs, lyrics, melodies, even the choreography! The audience inspires the whole thing, so it is never the same show twice!
•July 10, “Christmas in July”: Harbor Pavilion is transformed into a winter wonderland, complete with sing-along of your favorite Christmas tunes performed live by the Rechionne’s, as well as face painting.
•July 31, WNY High Octane Dueling Pianos: WNY High Octane Dueling Pianos will take the stage for a night you won't want to miss. Their unique style incorporates the audience in a request-driven, high-powered presentation of music, comedy, and fractured songs, all designed to create an evening of sing-along, thump the tables, dance along with insanity.
•Aug. 14, Disney: Live Disney sing-a-longs, performances, and meet-and-greet with some Disney princesses! A great family experience. Free face-painting is also part of the program.
•Aug. 28, Comedy Sportz Show: Buffalo Comedy Collective: Improvisational comedy played as a sport. Our high-energy short-form improv show has two teams of professional comedians improvising games, songs, jokes and scenes while a referee calls fouls and fields suggestions from you, our loyal fans. Vote for which team you like best, and Mx Voice will declare an ultimate winner for the evening!
Gateway Food Truck Thursdays will run from June 4 to Sept. 17 on the City of Tonawanda side.
