On Monday, April 27, at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Niagara County Communications Center received a report of a serious injury motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Youngstown-Wilson Road and Dickersonville Road. Initial responding patrol units confirmed that a motorcycle had struck a pickup truck, and the operator of the motorcycle was unconscious and not breathing. Deputies and EMS personnel immediately began providing medical care to the motorcycle operator; however, the individual was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene. The operator of the pickup truck was not injured.
The preliminary investigation indicates the motorcycle was traveling westbound on Youngstown-Wilson Road and was attempting to pass both an uninvolved vehicle and the pickup truck, which were also traveling westbound. While the motorcycle was attempting to pass the pickup truck on the left, the pickup truck began making a left turn onto Dickersonville Road. The motorcycle then struck the driver’s side door of the pickup truck.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Niagara County accident investigation unit (AIU).
The names of those involved are being withheld at this time pending notification of family members.
