The City of Niagara Falls has a new, 1.75-mile path by Buffalo Avenue for walking, biking and jogging. The area begins at LaSalle Waterfront Park. It connects to the Niagara River Shoreline Trail, as the pathway takes users through the LaSalle neighborhood, onto a paved pathway along the LaSalle Expressway, and links with Cayuga Road to the rest of the trail.
Niagara River vessel accident now 'recovery operation'

At approximately 9:40 p.m. Wednesday, Niagara County 911 received a report of a vessel accident north of Navy Island on the upper Niagara River. The vessel reportedly had struck a concrete abutment, and its two occupants were missing.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation announced a new state record brook trout. Benjamin Ferguson, a dedicated brook trout angler from Lowville, Lewis County, caught a 22-inch, 6-pound-3-ounce "brookie" from the St. Regis Canoe Area on July 5, edging out the 2013 record by 3 ounces. The record-breaking fish was caught while slow trolling a Lake Clear Wabbler.
