On Oct. 15, at approximately 2:30 a.m., the Niagara Falls Police Department responded to the area of 287 Hyde Park Blvd. for a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. When officers arrived on scene, they discovered an unresponsive male lying in the street, who was pronounced dead by medical personnel.

On Sunday, Chief Spencer Lilly of Lewiston Fire Co. No. 1 reported a landfill fire at 1445 Pletcher Road required a multi-company response. Lewiston Fire Company No. 1 was dispatched to the landfill fire, where, upon arrival, a large pile of rubber tire chunks was found burning.

Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane, on Friday, announced Christian Palamara, 24, of Buffalo was sentenced before State Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller to eight years in prison. His co-defendant, Terrance D. Hennegan, 24, of Buffalo, received a determinate sentence of 10 years in prison as a second violent felony offender.

A tractor-trailer, loaded with 16 pallets of relief donations from Grand Island, began its trip from the Southern Tier town of Fillmore to Boone, North Carolina, on Oct. 7. It began its journey at Grand Island Town Hall two days earlier. The full trailer happened as the result of efforts by three men who live on the same street near Huth Road Elementary School.

Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced David B. Fermoile, age 65, plead guilty this morning to murder in the second degree. Fermoile admitted to murdering his sister, Diane Fermoile-McAvoy, 68 years old, on June 7, 2023, in Lockport.
