On Sept. 12, at approximately 4:30 p.m., the Niagara Falls Police Department crash investigation unit responded to the intersection of Niagara Falls Boulevard and Tuscarora Road to investigate a two-vehicle crash involving a car and a motorcycle.
A 2015 Honda CBR 1000 motorcycle driven by a 31-year-old Niagara Falls man was traveling eastbound on Niagara Falls Boulevard when it struck the passenger side of a 2011 Dodge Journey that was westbound on Niagara Falls Boulevard making a left-hand turn onto Tuscarora Road. The crash was witnessed by an on-duty Niagara Falls Police officer who observed the motorcycle operating at an unsafe speed.
The intersection was closed for approximately three hours while evidence was collected and the scene was surveyed.
The operator of the motorcycle succumbed to his injuries at Erie County Medical Center. His name is being withheld pending notification of his family.
The driver of the Dodge remained on scene and cooperated with the crash investigators. The investigation is ongoing, but at this time, no charges are expected to be filed.
