Tops Friendly Markets press release
On Saturday, Tops welcomed hundreds of Doug Flutie fans who were eager to meet the former quarterback and have him sign the newest edition of Flutie Flakes at the Hamburg store. Fans came as far as way as two hours north of Toronto and Las Vegas!
The event had fans from all generations – many of whom purchased their first box of the iconic Flutie Flakes when they were first on Tops shelves back in 1998. When the cereal arrived in stores 30 years ago, Tops sold more than 2.3 million boxes over the course of two years as fans were eager to get their hands on this collectible – which many fans brought back in pristine condition. The cereal made limited-time comebacks for its 10th and 20th anniversaries.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the cereal goes back to the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism, which is nearing its $50 million goal. For more information, visit flutieflakescereal.com.
