Grand Island resident Janet I. Austin, age 106, passed away Sept. 11, 2026.
She was the wife of 60 years of the late Charles M. Austin; the mother of Irene (the late Tim) Ehde and Joanne Salazar; the grandmother of Rene (Larry) Acklin, Stacy (Matt) Genco, David (Valerie) Salazar-Austin, Nicole Salazar-Austin and Monica Salazar-Austin; the great-grandmother of Kayla, Joshua, Ryan, Isabella, Alex, Sydney, Julia and Sam; the aunt of Mary Lou Jerge and the late William Rohrback; the daughter of the late William and Mary Lyall; and the sister of the late Margaret Rohrback.
Janet was a junior deputy of Aries Triangle No. 131 for many years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Martin-In-The-Fields Episcopal Church, 2587 Baseline Road, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19.
