Batavia Downs Gaming & Hotel press release & photos
The annual “Family Fun Day and Dachshund Races” were held Sunday at Batavia Downs Gaming & Hotel. Dachshunds from across Western and Central New York competed for the crown of fastest wiener dog in Western New York.
Winning heat No. 4 and then the finals was Oscar, followed by Augie in second place, and then Otter in third. The top three dogs’ owners received free play and food certificates at Batavia Downs.
Over 1,000 Western New Yorkers enjoyed family-related activities including face painting, balloon artists, and a magician, as well as a kettle corn stand, pumpkin decorating, carriage and pony rides.
“It was another great year of wiener dog races,” said Ryan Hasenauer, vice president of business development at Batavia Downs. “We were so happy to see many families from the area take part in our free event as they do each year.”
