On Oct. 3, at approximately 9:57 a.m., Niagara Falls Police responded to the intersection of Fourth Street and Ferry Avenue to investigate a crash involving a 2025 Ford Escape and an electric bicycle.
The driver of the Ford was a 46-year-old employee of the City of Niagara Falls operating a city-owned vehicle. She was traveling north on Fourth Street and collided with the e-bike as she was making an eastbound turn onto Ferry Avenue.
The operator of the e-bike, a 65-year-old Niagara Falls man, was travelling westbound on Ferry Avenue, which is a one-way street for eastbound traffic. He suffered serious head injuries and was transported to Erie County Medical Center by AMR Ambulance. He is currently in critical condition in the trauma intensive care unit.
The driver of the vehicle is cooperating in the investigation, which is being continued by the crash investigation unit. Charges are pending based upon the outcome of the investigation.
