Inasmuch as Hallmark is hosting a reality competition series to find its next “Mr. Christmas,” an argument can be made the real “Mr. Christmas” is already on the network’s roster.
Over the next six weeks, nearly two-dozen holiday features starring Andrew Walker will be available to watch live or stream – including the highly anticipated third chapter of the “Three Wise Men” franchise, “Three Wisest Men.”
Walker is a staple of Hallmark’s brand-leading “Countdown to Christmas” film collection, giving the holiday season extra significance for his myriad fans. But for the Montreal native, it’s not the screentime that brings him most joy, but rather the facetime he finds at home with his children.
“This time of year is just made so much more special, because now I’m a dad,” Walker said at a press event Thursday in East Aurora. “I have a 10-year-old and a 5-year-old, and the magic of Christmas is even more magical now with them. I love that they’re all caught up in their imaginations with Santa Claus.
“I grew up listening to CBC Radio when I was a kid; a Canadian radio station. Christmas Eve, we would hear where Santa was – where he was traveling – and they’d give us the weather conditions. I love the magic of Christmas.”
Walker is working to share that magic with fans, with two new movies airing this month (“Three Wisest Men” at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, and “Holiday Touchdown: A Bills Love Story” at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22), and one in December (“She’s Making a List” at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6).

The Brenner brothers are back in “Three Wisest Men,” with Luke (Walker) finding his own family about to grow; Stephan (Paul Campbell) dealing with marriage anxieties; and Taylor (Tyler Hynes) again plotting a career move. At the same time, their mom, Barbara (Margaret Colin), is looking to sell their beloved childhood home.
“I saw it on the ‘Christmas Cruise’ that we just came back from,” Walker said of “Three Wisest Men.” “Fans seem to think that it was better than all of the other movies that we’ve done so far.”

In “Holiday Touchdown: A Bills Love Story,” lifelong friends and Mafia members Morgan Quinn (Holland Roden) and Gabe DeLuca (Matthew Daddario) set out to find the person who has been sending gifts to her uncle Tommy (Joe Pantoliano) for more than 50 years.
Walker wasn’t originally cast in the film, but “I love the Bills, and they still have a special place in my heart,” he said of the team he’s backed since the “Jim Kelly years. Bruce Smith. Thurman Thomas. Andre Reed. Prime days.”
He put a call into the network and was gifted a great cameo role.
“It was one of the best sporting events I’ve ever been to,” he said. “It was the biggest turnaround I’ve ever witnessed live at a sports game.”

Walker said he was most drawn to “my movie this year with Lacey Chabert, called ‘She’s Making a List.’ ” He called it “a high-concept Hallmark movie that is about the magic of Christmas. To do that was really special.
“I think just having kids now has made it a different experience.”
Walker explained “She’s Making a List” is “the most appealing movie to kids, because it’s about a father-daughter relationship, and this woman who’s working for the naughty and nice list. It’s like a third-party agency that basically audits the naughty or nice list for Santa Claus. It makes sure that kids are really (naughty or nice).
“The message is beautiful. It’s about there’s no naughty or nice kids – all kids are nice. It’s the circumstances that make them act out in certain ways. It’s a beautiful message.
“The little girl who played my daughter in the movie, she’s amazing.
“I have ‘Three Wisest Men’ airing this weekend and, even though that movie’s a lot of fun – it’s crazy; it’s like ‘Christmas Vacation’ – I would say ‘She’s Making a List’ – there’s something special about that movie, to me, that I think is going to resonate with kids.”
