Submitted by the Niagara County District Attorney’s Office
Earlier this week, Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced Al Villane, 35 years old, of Niagara Falls, was sentenced Nov. 10 to serve the next 22 years to life in State Prison. Villane was convicted by a jury in August of the crimes of murder in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree in the stabbing death of 47-year-old Hollis Stewart on Sept. 19, 2022, in a residence on the 700 block of 20th Street in Niagara Falls.
“This was a completely unnecessary act of violence,” Seaman said. “Unfortunately, the victim’s family, and now the defendant, will have to live with the consequences for the rest of their lives.”
The sentence was handed down by County Court Judge John Ottaviano. The case was investigated by the Niagara Falls Police Department and prosecuted by assistant ADAs Maria Stoelting and Carrington Crossley.
