Full album, ‘The Resurrection Of A King,’ releasing March 27
Press release
Award-winning composer for TV and film, producer, and songwriter Tommee Profitt has released the next song from his anticipated project, “The Resurrection Of A King,” which will release March 27.
Profitt and Jon Reddick have delivered a dramatic reimagining of the beloved hymn “Just As I Am." Far from a traditional rendition, this version feels like stepping into a boxing ring, vulnerable and unfiltered. Listen to "Just As I Am" now and watch the video below.
Layered with cinematic production, the track captures what Reddick says is a battle cry of surrender. With Profitt building a sonic landscape that feels larger-than-life, he invited Reddick to do what he does best. The result is a soul-stirring moment that blends the authenticity of worship with theatrical intensity.
"There are some incredible lyric lines in this hymn that I think get overlooked, maybe because the song is often sung so happily," Profitt said. "Lines like ‘to rid my soul of one dark blot’ are actually really intense and powerful. Or ‘whose blood can cleanse each spot.’ It’s heavy. It carries weight. And as I was reading through it, I realized this song needed to feel a little meaner. There’s confidence in saying, ‘I come just as I am.’ That’s a bold declaration. So, I leaned into that and made something that felt gritty, confident and strong. As soon as it started turning into this rock-gospel moment, I knew it had to be Jon Reddick."
“The Resurrection Of A King” is a cinematic Easter soundtrack featuring reimagined hymns “The Old Rugged Cross,” “Jesus Paid It All” and “Amazing Grace,” alongside voices such as Phil Wickham, CeCe Winans, Crowder, Jenn Johnson, Jamie MacDonald and Ben Fuller. The debut song from the project, "He Arose (with Phil Wickham)," made a huge impact immediately, creating anticipation for the whole project.
Profitt said he feels he was commissioned to make this album and sees it as a life-purpose project.
"With this project, I wanted people to feel like they were there at the cross, or standing outside the tomb as Jesus walked out. That overwhelming, chills-inducing moment," he said. "I had tears in my eyes almost every day working on this project. The music was overwhelming. The content was overwhelming. The subject matter was overwhelming."
This project follows Profitt's well-received, “The Birth of A King,” which has generated over 200 million global streams and has since become an annual live destination concert event every holiday season. Profitt has more than 100 billion career global streams, 300-plus major sync placements, and 49 RIAA Gold and Platinum certifications. He remains one of today’s most impactful creative forces in music.
