Anne Marie Moraca-Sawicki, R.N., M.S.N., holds a copy of "Plenty of Time To Be Friends” – her newly published book. The inspirational memoir is about her mother, Joan Forgione Moraca, who became a nurse as an adult after marrying, having five children and surviving cancer. Joan was especially helpful in teaching patients how to deal with cancer treatments – especially breast cancer – at a time when few people spoke openly about having cancer.
Joan touched many lives through her philosophy to take the lemons life gives you and make lemonade. She even participated in a study of a potential new cancer drug when she was in the final stages of cancer. When asked by her daughter why she would do such a thing when she knew it was too late for any drug to help her, she said, "It won't help me – but it might help you."
The book is available via Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Kindle. It will appeal to anyone who enjoys stories about courageous people.
Moraca-Sawicki is married to Dr. Richard L. Sawicki. They reside in Lewiston and have run a podiatry practice for the past 43 years in Niagara Falls.
