The Niagara Military Affairs Council (NIMAC) extends its sincere gratitude to the Western New York federal delegation for its strong support of the recently passed National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which includes $54 million in authorized funding for a Combined Operations Alert Facility (COAF) at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station (NFARS).

As a multiyear military construction project, $16 million has been appropriated to date, with additional funding to be secured in future fiscal years. NIMAC looks forward to continuing to work closely with the federal delegation to ensure full funding is achieved, so this critical project can move forward to execution.

The COAF is a long-standing priority for the installation and will significantly enhance mission readiness and operational efficiency for the Air Force Reserve at NFARS. The project has been many years in development and represents the culmination of sustained collaboration among federal, state and local stakeholders.

“This funding reflects the confidence our elected leaders have in the strategic value of the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station and the missions it supports,” said Michael Zimmerman of NIMAC. “We are grateful for the continued advocacy and partnership that made this milestone possible.”

NIMAC also wishes to thank New York state and the municipalities throughout Western New York that have consistently supported the council’s advocacy efforts. For more than 30 years, NIMAC has worked on behalf of the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, helping to secure hundreds of millions of dollars in federal investment that strengthen national defense, support service members and their families, and drive economic impact across the region.

More about the Niagara Military Affairs Council: NIMAC is a nonprofit organization that works to support the growth and prosperity of the NFARS and its personnel, creating a positive economic impact on the Western New York community. Founded in 1996 as a result of the 1995 Base Realignment and Closure Commission (BRACC), NIMAC continues to support and promote capital investment by the federal government in the NFARS by increasing the station’s visibility and calling attention to its attributes among key Department of Defense, congressional and military leaders. NIMAC is an apolitical and Hatch Act-compliant organization allowing free communication between NIMAC and military leadership. For more information, visit www.NIMAC.org.
