The Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday announced the team signed forward Josh Doan to a seven-year extension with an average annual value of $6.95 million.
Doan, 23, has registered 15 goals and 20 assists across 49 games this season. He leads all NHL skaters in takeaways (35) and takeaways per 60 (2.66) in 2025-26 (min. 10 games played). Doan is on pace to register 59 takeaways this season, which would be the fourth-most by a Sabres skater in a single season since the league began tracking the stat in 2005-06.
Among all Sabres skaters with at least 15 games played this season, Doan ranks first in on-ice corsi for per 60 (64.58), on-ice scoring chances for per 60 (29.89), and on-ice high-danger chances for per 60 (14.41) at 5-on-5 according to Natural Stat Trick.
Has set new single-season career highs in goals, assists and points (35) in 2025-26, and is on pace to record 25 goals this season – which would be the most by a Sabres skater in their first season with the team since Jeff Skinner (40) in 2018-19.
