Niagara History Center press release
On Saturday, Sept. 12, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., the Niagara History Center will host a day of family activities to celebrate America’s 250th birthday. Families are invited to come to the History Center, 215 Niagara St., Lockport, to learn and experience 250 years of Niagara County history through “meeting” famous people, trying their hand at bygone activities, and making crafts from different periods of time.
Children will receive a small token at each of the stops. Activity stations will be set-up on the grounds and in the buildings of the Niagara History Center campus where families can explore Native American culture, pioneer life, the Civil War, regional industries that made a national impact, local civil and women’s right leaders, and Niagara Falls tourism and the hydroelectric power industry. It will take about an hour to complete all activities. This event is free and open to the public, but is recommended for families with children ages 5 and up.
Preregistration is required for this event. Call 716-434-7433 or email info@niagarahistory.org to register by Sept. 8. There will be no refreshments sold at the event, and only street parking is available near the museum. A county lot is located one block east on Niagara Street near Hawley Street, and parking is allowed there on Saturdays.
