The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) has reaffirmed SUNY Niagara's accreditation through 2033. This action follows a MSCHE team's review of SUNY Niagara's programs and services, discussions with several members of the college community, and visits to its campus and other properties.

The Niagara County Youth Bureau, as the recipient of funding from the New York State Office of Children and Family Services related to Youth Development Programming, Youth Sports and Education Funding, Youth Team Sports and Runaway and Homeless Youth Funding, is now accepting grant applications. Funding for the new program year begins Oct. 1, and runs through Sept. 30, 2026.

The Niagara County Department of Public Works announced it has contracted with a surveying firm for services for a future infrastructure improvement project along Porter Center Road, from Swann Road to Lake Road (Route 18.) Frandina Engineering and Land Surveying PC will have survey crews in the area over the next few days.

The City of Niagara Falls has a new, 1.75-mile path by Buffalo Avenue for walking, biking and jogging. The area begins at LaSalle Waterfront Park. It connects to the Niagara River Shoreline Trail, as the pathway takes users through the LaSalle neighborhood, onto a paved pathway along the LaSalle Expressway, and links with Cayuga Road to the rest of the trail.

Niagara County is partnering with the Starpoint Central School District and paint-recycling company GreenSheen to host a paint recycling event this Saturday, July 26, at the Starpoint campus in Pendleton. Niagara County residents and businesses are welcome to bring up to 100 gallons of latex or oil-based paint in its original container to the event for collection at no cost.

On Saturday, July 12, at approximately 9:08 p.m., Niagara Falls Fire Department responded to an alarm that smoke was coming from Michael's Restaurant at 3011 Pine Ave. Crews entered the rear of the building to extinguish the fire.
