Two Grand Island High School students were recognized for their achievements while serving as cadets at the Jan. 18 Grand Island Fire Co. installation dinner. Kieran Meisel, a senior in the high school, was honored with the cadet training award, and Brayden Walden, a junior, was honored as cadet of the year.

Following an extensive seven-month search by its board of trustees, Catholic Charities of Buffalo has named Tony DeSimone as the organization's new president and CEO, effective March 2. DeSimone succeeds Deacon Steve Schumer, who retired at the end of 2025 after serving six years in the role.

The Neighbors Foundation of Grand Island thanks the hundreds of individuals and organizations who contributed to our successful 2025 holiday distribution. One hundred and ten of your neighbor families were helped with food baskets and, where appropriate, gift cards for 152 children; 73 of our seniors were also helped in two senior apartment complexes.
