The Niagara County Parks Department on Tuesday said the outdoor ice rinks at Krull and Burmaster parks are now open to the public. The parks are open for ice skating between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. daily, and the rinks do have lighting.

Reflecting on the Upward Niagara Chamber of Commerce's 20th anniversary, Board Chairman Matt Villnave said, "Here in Niagara County, things are a little different than in Erie County, and our Chamber has become a true champion for small communities. We think it's incredibly important to take the visitors handed to us by Destination Niagara USA and say, 'Yes, you're visiting Niagara Falls ... but there is so much more to see in Niagara County.' "

Lewiston Town Board members on Monday approved a six-month moratorium on permits covering seasonal/special use activities in the zoning districts. The vote followed a contentious, nearly 30-minute session where the board received a number of comments from speakers in defense of right-to-farm operations.

The Lewiston Christmas Walk concluded Sunday evening with a grand lights parade down Center Street. The 60-minute procession included several first-responder units - including police and fire - dance groups, local businesses and service organizations.

Santa arrived in Lewiston on Saturday morning, receiving a special escort from Lewiston No. 1 Fire Co. He began at Academy Park, paraded down Center Street, and situated himself in front of the Frontier House. There, he met with children, received Christmas lists, and took photos.

On Wednesday, Artpark & Company announced a grant award totaling $25,000 from the New York State Council on the Arts to support the arts and culture sector. Through New York state's continued investment in arts and culture, NYSCA has awarded $80.9 million in fiscal year 2026 to arts and culture nonprofits across all 10 regions and a historic number of artists.
