He had never heard of Robert Traynham Coles until he moved into Coles' unique home and studio on Humboldt Parkway in Buffalo's historic Hamlin Park neighborhood in 2020 after moving back from Brooklyn.

Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz was joined Friday by Congressman Tim Kennedy, Deputy County Executive Lisa M. Chimera, First Deputy Commissioner of Social Services Daniel Szewc, Commissioner of the Department for the Aging Randy Hoak, and Collin Bishop of FeedMore WNY at the New Covenant Church Food Pantry in Tonawanda as Erie County. They were there to warn thousands of county residents who rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance (SNAP) and Home Energy Assistance (HEAP) programs to prepare to seek alternative food and energy assistance if the ongoing federal shutdown continues into November.

The University at Buffalo's clean energy master plan received a major boost with the announcement Wednesday that New York state will provide UB $68 million to decarbonize the central utility plant, create energy hubs and thermal energy networks, and build geothermal wells as part of a campuswide effort to phase out fossil fuel-based systems and replace them with on-site electrical systems.

Empire State Development (ESD) announced the completed restoration of the Buffalo Museum of Science (BMS) historic north façade. The project includes the restoration of the original formal staircase, plazas, sidewalks and curbing of the 100,000-square-foot Esenwein and Johnson-designed building, which opened in 1929.
