National Fuel Gas Distribution Corp. received approval Thursday from the New York Public Service Commission (PSC) to increase its base delivery rates and charges for gas service effective Jan. 1, 2025. This is the first increase to National Fuel's base delivery rates in New York since 2017 and only the second increase in 16 years.

The ceremony, held at the Tuscarora Heroes Monument on Center Street, marked 211 years since Tuscarora natives saved dozens of Lewiston settlers during a British attack in the War of 1812.

On Wednesday, the board of directors for the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens announced the unanimous appointment of Erin Grajek as president and CEO, effective immediately. Grajek has served as interim president and CEO since the passing of Mark Mortenson in September. Prior to this role, she was the organization's COO beginning in 2021 and has held various progressive leadership positions at the Botanical Gardens since 2006.

The Niagara Gospel Mission had a busy Thanksgiving eve and Thanksgiving day, preparing and handing out over 2,200 prepackaged Thanksgiving meals to people in need in the City of Niagara Falls, the Town of Niagara, and the City of North Tonawanda. Around 300 volunteers showed up and were assigned different roles for the "Feed the Falls" event.
