New York's average gas price dips below $3 per gallon

The national average price for a gallon of gasoline is $2.80, down 1 cent from last Monday. One year ago, the price was $3.07. The New York state average has dipped just below the $3 per gallon threshold at $2.998, down from $3.03 last Monday. A year ago, the NYS average was $3.14.

TSA to enforce $45 REAL ID verification fee beginning Feb. 1

Starting Feb. 1, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will begin enforcing a $45 identity-verification fee for passengers who attempt to fly without compliant identification. All travelers who do not present an acceptable form of a REAL ID, U.S. passport, or other accepted ID will be directed to TSA's optional ConfirmID identity-verification process at check-in, before entering the security screening line.
