Gov. Kathy Hochul announced New York has begun issuing more than $250 million in food assistance to an estimated 2.2 million low-income children as part of the 2025 summer Electronic Benefits Transfer program. The state is sending $120 per child to eligible families to help pay for food during the summer, when students lose access to free school meals.

Last Friday, for the first time in more than 20 years, the general public walked through the front doors of the historic Frontier House in Lewiston. The building's first-floor tenant, Fairbanks restaurant, hosted a soft opening for those who helped its proprietors, Daniel Hagen and Jake Strawser, craft their second restaurant. Rosemary (nee Noonan) Dawdy of Youngstown passed away peacefully on June 10, 2025, at the age of 94. Rosemary was born Feb. 15, 1931, in Niagara Falls, to Kathleen (Tough) and Carl Noonan. Rosemary's early life was spent in Niagara Falls, and the family's summer home in Muskoka, Ontario, Canada.
