Frontier & Grand Island set for second annual Outdoor Volleyball Stadium Series

Submitted

Frontier High School will host the second annual Frontier Volleyball Stadium Series on Saturday, Sept. 19, featuring boys' and girls' varsity volleyball matches against Grand Island High School in a unique outdoor setting at Frontier's football stadium.

The event builds upon the success of last year's groundbreaking outdoor volleyball showcase, which drew more than 2,000 spectators and established multiple historic milestones. The boys' match was recognized as the first-ever officially sanctioned outdoor high school boys' volleyball match in the U.S., while the girls' contest became the largest sanctioned outdoor high school girls' volleyball event in New York state history.

The volleyball court will once again be constructed directly on the 50-yard line of Frontier's football field using a temporary sport court overlay, transforming the stadium into one of the most unique high school volleyball venues in the country.

Inspired by the record-breaking outdoor volleyball match at the University of Nebraska, the Stadium Series was created to bring the excitement of major collegiate volleyball events to the high school level while creating a memorable community experience.

This year's event will once again feature a festival-like atmosphere with music, family-friendly activities, and community partners. A highlight of the evening will be a giveaway sponsored by One Stop Car Wash, which will provide 1,000 complimentary car wash vouchers to the first 1,000 fans through the gates.

"We're excited to partner with Frontier High School and support an event that showcases the best of Western New York athletics and community spirit," said a representative of One Stop Car Wash. "Providing free car wash vouchers is our way of thanking fans for coming out and supporting these student-athletes."

The 2026 Stadium Series will feature Frontier and Grand Island, two respected Western New York volleyball programs, competing under the lights in front of what organizers hope will once again be one of the largest crowds for a high school volleyball event in the region.

Community members, students, alumni, and volleyball fans are encouraged to attend and be part of another historic chapter in New York high school sports.
