The Lewiston Police Department is now accepting applications for the 2026-27 Cadet Academy. The program is open to young men and women between the ages of 14 and 20 who are interested in exploring a career in law enforcement.
The upcoming Cadet Academy will run from October through June and will offer hands-on training in a variety of law enforcement topics such as defensive tactics, traffic stops, firearms and range safety, and responding to routine calls for service.
Cadets will also have the opportunity to attend presentations from several specialized law enforcement units such as K-9, SWAT, dive teams, and crime scene investigation. In addition, participants will tour various facilities, including the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center, Niagara County Jail, U.S. Border Patrol facilities, and other local, state and federal agencies.
Cadets who successfully complete designated portions of the program may also be eligible to participate in ride-along with Lewiston Police Department officers.
