Press Release

The newly published “Isle of View” anthology will be showcased at a reading and signing event at the Lewiston Library, 305 S. Eighth St., at. 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15.

The poignant prose and poems by Lewiston resident John Henderson were discovered in an overlooked closet nook by his son, Timothy Henderson, more than 85 years after they were penned.

“I couldn’t believe it,” Tim recalled. “The words clearly captured my dad’s private and heartfelt emotions from that period, and I knew right away they would resonate deeply with so many people. I had to publish them to share these gems with the world.”

Combining wit, reflection, and a profound love for life, the pieces evoke the wild beauty of Scotland’s islands. The title’s clever play on “I Love You” celebrates John’s heritage and delves into themes of yearning, endurance, and Celtic roots – ideal for those with Scottish ancestry.

Author John Henderson was born in 1915, immigrated to America in the 1920s, and settled in Lewiston. He distinguished himself as a playwright, humorist, writer and educator, serving as vice principal at LaSalle Senior High School. The family home on Oneida Street, where Tim still resides, served as a vibrant hub of creativity.

Priced at $25, the limited-edition is an ideal keepsake for literary enthusiasts, history lovers, and those with Scottish ancestry. Those unable to attend the event, can check for the book’s availability at the Book Corner in Niagara Falls or by contacting Tim directly at 716-754-7179.
