Lewiston Council on the Arts Press Release

The Lewiston Council on the Arts is pleased to announce it has been awarded a $13,500 grant from the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Arts & Culture Initiative administered by the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo.

This grant will enable the Lewiston Council on the Arts to invest in staffing, training and organizational infrastructure to strengthen its fundraising capacity, ensuring the organization can continue providing high-quality arts and cultural experiences for the community.

"We are incredibly grateful to The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Arts & Culture Initiative for their generous support," said Maria Fortuna Dean, executive director of LCA. "This grant is crucial because it supports our work of creating connection and improving our community’s quality of life through the arts.”

The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Arts & Culture Initiative was established at the Community Foundation to support arts and culture in the eight counties of Western New York, plus Monroe County, in recognition of the key role arts and culture organizations play in a thriving economy. Part of that announcement includes $500,000 in annual funding to be awarded primarily to support small- to mid-sized arts and culture organizations in the nine counties.

In addition to producing the nationally recognized Lewiston Art Festival, the LCA presents a year-round schedule of events, classes, lectures, and musical and theatrical performances – providing tens of thousands of residents and visitors opportunities to experience the arts, culture and history of Western New York.
