Niagara Frontier Golf Club has named Niagara Falls native Kurt Vogel to the position of PGA head golf professional, announced Thomas J. Baia, president of the board of directors. Vogel will begin his duties in March at the 96-year-old club located on Lake Road in Niagara County.
Vogel most recently was the head golf professional in Mesa, Arizona, at Apache Wells Country Club – a position he held since April 2022. Throughout his 30-year PGA career, he held positions of golf professional, general manager, and golf instructor at private clubs locally, and in Arizona, California, Kansas, Nevada and North Carolina, including involvement in opening new private golf clubs. Besides his golf expertise, his experience includes overall club operations, financial management, membership growth and retention, creation of golf events for member satisfaction, golf instruction, development of junior and women’s golf programs, pro shop operations, and staff development/mentoring.

“Kurt’s proven ability across the spectrum of golf will be an asset to enhancing our club’s member experience,” Baia said. “Niagara Frontier’s strength is our members who take pride in our unique and challenging course near Lake Ontario. We are excited for Kurt to join our leadership team to propel us forward.”
Vogel is a graduate of Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan, with a Bachelor of Science in marketing and professional golf management. Plus, he is a Class A member of the Professional Golfers Association of America.
“Coming home to Western New York to support the members and to work with the board of directors at this gem of a course is a dream,” Vogel said. “I can’t wait to join the Frontier family and work beside the highly regarded management, course, pro shop and dining team members to continue to grow Niagara Frontier’s golf operations.”
Niagara Frontier Golf Club General Manager Timothy Engel said, “The knowledge and skills that Kurt brings to us is the ideal partnership as we prepare for the 2026 season and our club’s evolution.”
Niagara Frontier Golf Club is a member-owned private club near Lake Ontario. In 1929, a group of local Masons pooled their funds to buy the farm land, and the course subsequently opened in 1930. It was the renowned golf course architects at Harries and Hall who designed the course that would take advantage of the hills and natural beauty of the 104 acres that the Masons purchased, creating a golf course like none other in the area.
