Lewiston Community Lions Club Press Release & Photos

The Lewiston Community Lions Club is proud to announce the winners of its annual Peace Poster contest, following a successful campaign that engaged local youth in visualizing global peace: first-place winner Vanessa Forbes, second-place Melanie Lynch and third-place Aubrey Johnson. Honorable mentions included Kazimier Gallagher, Meadow Schmieger, Samantha Saturday and Alyvia Dixon.

The winning entry was selected from over 137 submissions by talented students at Lewiston-Porter Middle School. Vanessa will now advance to compete at the Lions District 20-N level, which includes 45 Lions Clubs across Western New York.

Lion Regina Cecconi said, "Each year, Lions around the world invite young people to share their vision of peace through art. This year’s theme, ‘Together As One,’ reminds us that peace grows when we work side by side – when we listen, care, and find common ground despite our differences.

“We owe a big thanks to Kelly Zimmerman, the Lew-Port Middle School art teacher, whose efforts were instrumental in making this program a success."

About the contest

Sponsored by Lions Clubs International, the Peace Poster Contest is an international art competition for children ages 11-13. For nearly four decades, the contest has provided a platform for young people to share their vision of peace, offering opportunities for recognition at the local, district and international levels.

Winners and exhibition

Three students were recognized as winners and were awarded cash prizes at a special reception held at the Lewiston-Porter Senior High School Center for the Arts. All 137 entries from the students are currently on display at the Center for the Arts.

The Lewiston Community Lions Club is dedicated to serving the needs of the local community.
