Niagara County Department of Health confirms 2 cases of rabies in raccoons

The Niagara County Department of Health has received confirmation of two positive rabies cases involving raccoons in the towns of Cambria and Hartland. Samples were submitted to the New York State Department of Health Wadsworth Center on Jan. 14, and positive results were confirmed Jan. 15.

The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists that the bridge carrying Interstate 190 southbound over Niagara Falls Boulevard (U.S. Route 62) in the City of Niagara Falls will be closed for approximately four hours, beginning at 9 p.m. tonight, Thursday, Jan. 15, to facilitate a traffic reconfiguration.
