NACC to host Juneteenth parade and celebration

Niagara Falls Juneteenth weekend celebrations will kick off on Saturday, June 14, with a parade and community art and cultural festival hosted by the Niagara Arts and Cultural Center and organized by the Juneteenth committee and the Niagara Storm Youth Organization.
Live 'Butterfly Experience' at Botanical Gardens

The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens' new "Butterfly Experience" opens this weekend and will be open daily from June 7 to Aug. 3. Hundreds of live butterflies have taken flight in their newly renovated tropical orchard. The live butterfly exhibit will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are on sale now at buffalogardens.com.

Hochul celebrates General Motors' plans to invest $888 million in Tonawanda plant

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced General Motors will invest $888 million in new machinery and equipment at its Tonawanda plant to produce a next-generation small-block V-8 engine for use in GM's line of full-size trucks and SUVs. The project will support 870 jobs at Tonawanda Propulsion, including 177 jobs that were deemed at risk.

HBO and NFL Films reteam to present two upcoming editions of the groundbreaking series, "Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Buffalo Bills" debuting Tuesday, Aug. 5 (9 p.m. ET/PT), on HBO, with new episodes of the five-part series premiering on subsequent Tuesdays through Sept. 2; and "Hard Knocks: In Season with the NFC East" debuting this December. Both series will be available to stream on HBO Max.

On May 20, voters in the Grand Island Central School District cast their ballots in favor of approving the 2025-26 budget by the vote of 558 in favor and 387 opposed. The budget for the school district's new fiscal year is $79,321,145. Proposition 2, which provides for the purchase of vehicles, passed by the vote of 573 in favor and 370 opposed.

On Monday, the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation announced a nearly $12 million project to improve and expand the visitor experience at Earl W. Brydges Artpark State Park is complete. Upgrades include a new connector trail, entrance features and parking improvements meant to improve traffic flow for events and better connect the park with the trails and amenities of the Lower Niagara River.
