The Town of Wheatfield 2026 budget is shaping up as officials make a few tweaks to the preliminary budget, set to be spoken on by residents in a public hearing at 6:50 p.m. Nov. 3 in Wheatfield Town Hall.

Several speakers at Monday's Grand Island Town Board meeting criticized the upcoming referendum that asks voters to decide if the town should buy the current Niagara Hyundai site at 1910 Alvin Road to be repurposed as the town community center. The dealership will be moving to Niagara Falls once a new facility is built there.

Jeff Ritter, administrator of the Lewiston Water Pollution Control Center, announced plans to conduct smoke testing of sewer lines in the Morgan Farms neighborhood. The testing is expected to focus on groundwater infiltrations.

To boost awareness of CPR, the American Heart Association and National Football League are unveiling the 2025 Nation of Lifesavers Player Ambassador Class on World Restart a Heart Day, which takes places annually on Oct. 16.
