Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls USA was pleased to donate a pair of police tactical bicycles to the Town of Niagara Police Department on April 30. The police department intends to use the bikes while patrolling Veterans Memorial Community Park, as well as various outdoor activities throughout the Town of Niagara.

The Niagara County Legislature passed a resolution at their meeting Tuesday night opposed to National Grid's efforts to increase electric rates on its customers. The legislature called on Gov. Kathy Hochul to reject National Grid's plans, and filed comments opposed to the rate hike with the New York State Department of Public Service.

The new Niagara County Law Enforcement Academy (NCLEA) is officially open following a ribbon-cutting Tuesday at the new facility located on the campus of SUNY Niagara. The building is a partnership between the county, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office and SUNY Niagara, with funding for the $8.3 million project coming from both the county and state, along with a contribution from the City of Niagara Falls.

Niagara County Legislators Chris Robins and Chris McKimmie announced Niagara County will host a paint collection event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at Veterans' Memorial Park in the Town of Niagara. Any latex- or oil-based paint in its original container can be accepted at no cost. Residents and businesses are allowed to bring up to 75 gallons of paint to the event.

Empire State Development (ESD) announced the completion of 110 Sweeney Street, a new mixed-use development on the waterfront in the City of North Tonawanda. Niagara County Legislature Chairman Becky Wydysh announced the Niagara County website has moved to the ".gov" domain effective today. The county's website will now be www.niagaracounty.gov. Those who go to the old site, www.niagaracounty.com, will automatically be redirected to the new site.
