When I took office on Jan. 1, 2016, I quickly learned that the current town and village police contract, which had been signed in 1995, had never been updated. There were several attempts by previous town and village boards to do so, but it was never finished. Although the original contract never officially "expired," it was meant to be renegotiated approximately every five years.

The Lewiston Christmas Walk weekend concluded Sunday night with the Lewiston Lights Parade down Center Street. This festive capper, organized by the Upward Niagara Chamber of Commerce, featured first responders, local businesses, dance and marching units, and, of course, Santa Claus.

Jose Garcia, who was sworn in as Grand Island's newest council member on Nov. 25 at a ceremony in Town Hall, said his hope is "to help this Town Board push along and perfect the projects that are facing the town to include our sewer improvements and water upgrades.
