Wegmans is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its “Ultimate Chocolate Cake,” a beloved bakery favorite that began as an employee-developed recipe and has become part of birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, and everyday celebrations for customers across the company’s communities.

To mark the milestone, Wegmans will offer special $20 anniversary pricing throughout October for the large “Ultimate Chocolate Cake.” The limited-time promotion gives longtime fans a reason to celebrate a favorite and invites new customers to discover the rich chocolate cake that has been part of Wegmans Bakery for two decades.

From employee recipe to customer favorite

Wegmans Chairman Danny Wegman wanted customers to enjoy a chocolate cake as memorable as the one he grew up with, but he had never found one that compared to his mom’s. Wegmans invited thousands of employees across the company to take part in a recipe “Cake Off” to find one that did. The result was the “Ultimate Chocolate Cake,” featuring intense dark chocolate flavor, an irresistibly moist texture, and rich frosting that “tastes just as amazing as mom’s.”

The cake is now one of the most recognized and frequently requested cakes in the Wegmans Bakery lineup, earning a loyal following among customers who have made it part of family traditions and special occasions year after year.

Throughout October, customers can purchase “Ultimate Chocolate Cake” at the special anniversary price of $20 for large cakes while supplies last.
