The Sisters of St. Francis built their motherhouse, Stella Niagara, along the banks of the Niagara River in 1908. Its formidable limestone walls and red-tiled roof with a copper spire have served as a beacon for generations of people who have lived, worked, and visited the site.

George Thorogood and The Destroyers brought "The Baddest Show on Earth," 50 years of in-your-face rock music, and 38 Special, to the Artpark Outdoor Amphitheater on Tuesday. Thorogood was energetic as ever as he performed hit songs and praised Lewiston as being a hidden gem.

Last Friday, for the first time in more than 20 years, the general public walked through the front doors of the historic Frontier House in Lewiston. The building's first-floor tenant, Fairbanks restaurant, hosted a soft opening for those who helped its proprietors, Daniel Hagen and Jake Strawser, craft their second restaurant. They also operate Billy Club in Buffalo.

"Welcome Summer" at the annual Lewiston GardenFest, set for Saturday and Sunday, June 21-22. Presented by the Lewiston Garden Club, the festival includes approximately 90 vendors selling flowers, plants, and handcrafted garden essentials, along with a garden walk, speakers, a container garden contest, and more throughout the weekend.

This is a busy time of year for the Lewiston Beautification team. You may have seen them planting colorful gardens on Center Street, the waterfront, the Peace Garden, Hennepin Park and the Red Brick School to name a few locations benefitting from members' hard work and green thumbs. They are easy to spot wearing navy blue T-shirts with "Beautification Volunteer" written across the back in white letters.

Artpark & Company teamed with musicians from the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra on Wednesday for an intimate candlelight concert inside the Mainstage Theater. In fact, guests were fully immersed in the glow of candles when they sat with the musicians onstage as part of the up-close-and-personal concert.

To commemorate the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, Old Fort Niagara announced plans to construct a replica 18th century Native American dwelling to serve as a Native American Education Center. The site will vividly represent the living conditions for Native Americans at the fort during the Revolution, and serve as a focal point for the Native living history programming.
