As nearly 70 Rite Aid pharmacy locations close in Western New York, the Erie County Department of Health and Department of Mental Health join with the Pharmacists Association of Western New York (PAWNY) to provide easy to use, point-and-click and printable maps to find the location of all pharmacies in Erie County, along with important safety advice and practical recommendations to patients who need to transfer their prescriptions to a different pharmacy.
'Unplug and Play:' Up to $100 million available for municipal & nonprofit community centers

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced funding is available from the new $100 million Building Recreational Infrastructure for Communities, Kids and Seniors (NY BRICKS) capital grant program. Hochul secured this funding in the FY 2026 enacted budget to support municipalities and nonprofit organizations in building or renovating community centers that promote physical health, mental well-being, and community connections for youth and older adults.

Poloncarz was joined Friday by Erie County Sheriff John Garcia, staff from the Department of Environment and Planning and the sheriff's office, and representatives of DLR Group to detail the results of the Erie County Holding Center and Erie County Correctional Facility Comprehensive Facility and Operational Needs Assessment, initiated in response to increasing concerns about the poor conditions and high costs of operating two aging facilities, the holding center in downtown Buffalo and the correctional facility in Alden, given the significantly reduced populations of incarcerated individuals.
