On "Free Fishing Day," New York waives the fishing license requirement for freshwater fishing in state waters.

Double Up Food Bucks NY (DUFBNY), the statewide nutrition incentive program that provides a free and automatic dollar-for-dollar match on Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) purchases of fresh fruits and vegetables, will remain available for SNAP shoppers at all participating DUFBNY locations throughout November, even if SNAP benefits are temporarily unavailable.

On Oct. 27, at approximately 9:48 p.m., Niagara Falls police responded to investigate a crash spanning from the 5300 block to the 5600 block of Buffalo Avenue. The crash involved a 2012 Yamaha Sports Bike and an electric bicycle.

The option to override the 2% tax cap was formally approved by a 4-1 vote at the Town of Niagara's regular Town Board business meeting on Tuesday. Councilman Charles Teixeira was the lone dissenting vote against authorizing Supervisor Sylvia Virtuoso and the board to increase taxes by more than 2%.

The "2025 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC)," published in the association's flagship journal, Circulation, marks the first full revision of lifesaving resuscitation guidance since 2020. Among the updates are expanded recommendations for managing choking and suspected opioid overdose, in addition to other lifesaving interventions.
