On Dec. 19, a group of Lewiston citizens gathered to thank the Tuscarora Nation for saving the lives of early settlers who were attacked by British forces during the War of 1812. It was the 212th anniversary of the attack that occurred in 1813, when the "Tuscarora Heroes" intervened and bought enough time for the local residents to escape and flee down Ridge Road.

Lewiston brothers raise $600 for Niagara Hospice in grandmother's memory

Two young boys from Lewiston recently raised $600 for Niagara Hospice in memory of their grandmother. Andrew and Matthew Bagovich went door to door asking neighbors if they needed their leaves raked, and ended up taking care of about 10 yards. Several generous neighbors also made additional donations to support Niagara Hospice.

The Lewiston Christmas Walk concluded Sunday evening with a grand lights parade down Center Street. The 60-minute procession included several first-responder units - including police and fire - dance groups, local businesses and service organizations.

Santa arrived in Lewiston on Saturday morning, receiving a special escort from Lewiston No. 1 Fire Co. He began at Academy Park, paraded down Center Street, and situated himself in front of the Frontier House. There, he met with children, received Christmas lists, and took photos.
