This past year marked my first as president of the Upward Niagara Chamber of Commerce, and it also happened to be the Chamber's 20th anniversary. Lewiston Town Board members on Monday approved a six-month moratorium on permits covering seasonal/special use activities in the zoning districts. The vote followed a contentious, nearly 30-minute session where the board received a number of comments from speakers in defense of right-to-farm operations.

River Region community members, business leaders and elected officials gathered together last week Thursday to celebrate the reopening of the Frontier House with the Historical Association of Lewiston. A private reception was held inside the new Fairbanks restaurant on the building's street level.

Last Friday, for the first time in more than 20 years, the general public walked through the front doors of the historic Frontier House in Lewiston. The building's first-floor tenant, Fairbanks restaurant, hosted a soft opening for those who helped its proprietors, Daniel Hagen and Jake Strawser, craft their second restaurant. They also operate Billy Club in Buffalo.

At its regular meeting on Thursday, the Lewiston Town Board, as lead agency, moved to approve a negative declaration and concept plan for the 5/4 President's Park planned unit development on Washington Drive. The project was proposed by developer Joe Giusiana.
