In honor of Purple Heart Appreciation Day, Erie County Clerk Michael P. Kearns recognized Erie County Purple Heart Recipients added to the William J. Donovan Purple Heart Book of Merit for 2024. No formal record of Purple Heart recipients in Erie County existed prior to 2018, when Kearns originated Erie County's version of the "Book of Merit."

The City of Niagara Falls has a new, 1.75-mile path by Buffalo Avenue for walking, biking and jogging. The area begins at LaSalle Waterfront Park. It connects to the Niagara River Shoreline Trail, as the pathway takes users through the LaSalle neighborhood, onto a paved pathway along the LaSalle Expressway, and links with Cayuga Road to the rest of the trail.

Taste of Buffalo presented by Tops Friendly Markets returns to downtown Buffalo for its 42nd event on Saturday, July 12 (11 a.m. to 8 p.m.), and Sunday, July 13 (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.). This is a busy time of year for the Lewiston Beautification team. You may have seen them planting colorful gardens on Center Street, the waterfront, the Peace Garden, Hennepin Park and the Red Brick School to name a few locations benefitting from members' hard work and green thumbs. They are easy to spot wearing navy blue T-shirts with "Beautification Volunteer" written across the back in white letters.

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced General Motors will invest $888 million in new machinery and equipment at its Tonawanda plant to produce a next-generation small-block V-8 engine for use in GM's line of full-size trucks and SUVs. The project will support 870 jobs at Tonawanda Propulsion, including 177 jobs that were deemed at risk.
